Hi Guys,

Hey, it was a great Fly-In to Apple Valley (APV) on sun, Dec 11th with
fifteen people and seven planes from four different airports.

Flying from Brown Field was Dennis in a RV3; from Ramona came Bert & Russ in
a 210; two planes out of Gillespie were Jeff, Jerry & John in a 172; and
Robert, Richard, Don & Tony (from Toronto) in a 337; three planes from
Montgomery were Mike & Chris in a 177RG; Bret Strain in a 172; and Jim &
Tony Tex in a 337.

With the exception of some high, scattered clouds at 10K, it was severe
clear with smooth air and you could see forever. We had strong tailwinds
flying there and fortunately weak headwinds coming back. One plane had a
ground speed of 192 knots going downhill from Arrowhead Lake into APV. There
were lots of planes in APV's pattern and everyone had their heads on
swivels, but there were no real problems in the pattern.

As usual, we all landed within fifteen minutes of each other and took over
four of the seven tables at Leonard's Restaurant at APV. We had a good time
hangar flying (i.e. there I was inverted at 100' on final) over breakfast
and agreed on a date and airport for the January Fly-In.

Lots of pictures were taken and as soon as you get them to our webmaster
he'll post them on our web site.

Next Fly-In is on Sun, Jan 22nd to Calexico (CXL). Their restaurant has good
food, but horrible service. If you speak Spanish, you might get better
service, IF they're in a good mood.

Best of clear skies and tailwinds,

Tony Tex
